After four days, Touaregs still rule Sertões International Rally. For the third time, Nasser Al-Attiyah/ Timo Gottschalk made the best time of the day, 4h29min26, and augmented their advantage over Carlos Sainz/ Lucas Senra, from 42 seconds to 1min27.

“The dream of being in Volkswagen team is now reality, add this to a good race, to the good Touareg performance, everything is perfect”, said the Qatari pilot.

The Spanish pilots completed this Saturday’s special in 4h31min36, followed by Maurício Neves and Eduardo Bampi, that arrived in Palmas in 4h35min57. The Brazilian pilots are in the 8th position, with a total of 18h07min02.

“Right in the beginning of the special, we helped Carlos Sainz and Lucas Senra that were in trouble. After that, we pushed harder. But, when the tires started to get worn, we preferred not to risk too much”, told Neves.

Kris Nissen, team director, says that teamwork is helping. “What a day! Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk showed that they get along very well. Carlos Sainz made a little mistake that cost him time, but Maurício Neves helped him. Thanks to his help, Carlos managed to go on with the race. That’s teamwork”, declared Nissen.
