Invited by Webventure, Kleber Tinoco, RN 1500 Rally, will make daily comments on Sertões International Rally 2009. Check it out:

Speed! This was the ingredient of the fifth day, but even stepping hard on the gas, pilots considered a “tranquil” stage, because there were not too many hardships on the way. That’s why there were no significant changes in the “history”, that has being written the exact same way for five days…

Bikes
“Zé and The Guys”: the name of the team seems to summarize the daily dispute in bikes, with Zé Hélio far ahead, and The Guys chasing him. Honda pilot once again made the best time and won today special, with Denísio Nascimento again in second, an another pilot from Santa Catarina state, Ike Klaumann, in third. The “gringos” made good times againPolish Jakub Przygonski was 4th, and Portuguese Pedro Bianchi Prata, 5th. Juca Bala made the 6th best time.

The general result is like this: Zé Hélio leads with 20h42m31s, Denísio Nascimento in second with 21h22m14s, Juca Bala 3rd 21h44m56s, Guto Klaumann 4th, with 22h22m43s and Rodolpho Mattheis is the fifth with 22h39m26s.

Zé is the leader in Superproduction/Mundial, Rodolpho Mattheis is the leader in Production, Juca Bala leads Superproduction, Denisio Nascimento leads Sport and Elvis Bittencourt is the leader in Brasil category.

We got to the half of the race with first places, theoretically, defined, but even with the first placers keeping their advantages, I believe and hope that the tomorrow’s Marathon Stage, and the “infinite sands” that will come, will shake the results a little bit in bikes and quads categories.

There are going to be two demanding days, where experienced pilots will do good, just reminding that Zé and Denisio ride known resistant bikes…

Quads
Everything exactly the same as yesterday… Cristiano Souza won the special with Carlo Collet once again in second, and Heronaldo Andrade in third. With this results, Cristiano amplifies his leadership in general results, opening 1h06m ahead of the second place, Carlo Collet. Bruno is the third with 3h36m behind the leader

Cristiano venceu cinco etapas do rali and with isso prova que não leads o brasileiro de cross-country por acaso. É um piloto competente, dono de uma tocada muito forte and, para vencer a prova, só precisa controlar a mão direita.

In category result, he leads Quad Extreme, and Demontier Moura, from Ceará, Quad 450.

Cars
Nasser Al Attyah won another stage, and mechanical problems (yes, Touaregs break too) bothered Carlos Sainz’ day, and he finished third. Even though, it was another Volkswagen day. Riamburgo Ximenes made the 4th time, and Jean Azevedo chegou in 5th, João Franciosi in 6th and Reinaldo Varela in 7th.

With this result Al Attyah opened an advantage of 11m51s ahead of Sainz in the general result, the way it goes, it looks like the 1st place cup will go to a Qatari shelf. And that’s only to refute my prognostics…

General results stay unchanged, with Jean Azevedo in 3rd, Riamburgo Ximenes in 4th and Roberto Reijers in 5th.

Luiz Facco is the leader in Superproduction, Jean leads in Prototypes and Carlos Policarpo leads Production.

Tomorrows Marathon Stage may result in break ups, and several cars may reach the sands in the 7th section without appropriate preparation and maintenance; this may change the looks of general classification, especially from 3rd to 10th.

Trucks
Among trucks, nothing has changed: Edu Piano won today’s special, and raised his advantage over Amable Barrasa; now it’s 32 minutes between the 1st and 2nd places. André Azevedo placed 2nd in the day, Guido Salvini 3rd, and Amable Barrasa 4th place.

Edu Piano has reached his “comfort zone” and has the chance to hold his advantage until the end, given that nothing strange happens, of course. He leads T4.1 and André Azevedo T4.2 categories.
