Father Cicero’s city is one of the places of the final straight of Sertões International Rally 2009. One of the most important cities, and an economic and cultural center of the state, along with Crato and Sobral, it has around 242,000 inhabitants.

According to the Ceará Economic and Strategy Research Institute (IPECE), Juazeiro has a GDP of approximately U$ 370,000,000.00, what represents the 41st larger northeastern Brazilian. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), in 2006, Juazeiro represented the 5th largest evolution of northeastern GDP.

Like the previous city, the most important tourism in the city is religious, but the region of the Cariri is also developing, with tours to the fossil regions of the Chapada do Araripe. Juazeiro do Norte is considered the best city in the region, with large hotel and services infrastructure. The Regional Cariri Airport was the one with largest growth in Brazil since 2006.
