The 2011 Sertões International Rally started off with a great show of solidarity and cooperation. The motorbike rider Tiago Fantozzi had a fall on the first special between Goiânia (GO) and Pirenópolis (GO), and was injured. That is when the riders like, Juca Bala stopped in the middle of the way to give him first aid, even though this cost them time.

“We left the trial and began getting some high speed spots”, said the experienced Juca. “Tiago overtook me and opened up a bit. I kept my rhythm because of the dust. But afterwards he fell on the floor violently on a straight stretch. The rescue team arrived quickly. He is already in good hands, Thank God.”

Juca stated that he did not mind the fact that he would lose time in helping his colleague: “It’s alright, I stopped because Tiago is a great friend of mine and a great rider, it was a pity. He was so well prepared, and was riding so well … but, that’s what happens in rallies.”

Leandro Nelso Silveira left his cell phone with the two and went to advise the test team. “When I passed, Juca was there. He signaled to me. I asked how Tiago was: he was conscious, well, but injured. Juca stayed with him, I left my cell phone there and wento to advise the next pick-up, which was 5 kilometers away.”

Tiago’s team said he was transported to Anápolis (GO).
