In seventh stage of the rally today, the competitors faced the longest straight stretch of the 2011 Sertões International Rally, a stretch 15 kilometers long. “Two thirds [of the stage] were very fast, with little maneuvering and navigation. They were really more speed and engine”, the driver Klever Klober of car 327, told Webventure. He and the navigator, Flávio de França completed the 253 kilometer Special in 2h49min53.

Reinaldo Varela and Eduardo Bampi (320) also did well this stage, completing it in a few seconds less than Klever (2h49min58). It was an “out of the box” Special. My car doesn’t do well on straights. On one of them, Klever overtook me, and we opened up for him [to pass]. Afterwards, the route became locked again and I caught up to him. So he opened up for me, and I passed him”, said Varela. And that’s the way it went up to the last straight, with Klever ahead.

The winner of the stage, with a time of 2h47min8, was car 301 driven by Guilherme Spinelli and Youssef Haddad. “We had a good day, at a good rhythm, without forcing it, but still being able to increase our lead a little more. We are satisfied”, said Giga. The duo Guilherme and Youssef continue in first in the general ranking. Paulo Nobre and Filipe Palmeiro (314) continue second place, but today completed the stage in third. And in third in the accumulated ranking, are Varela and Bampi.
