André Azevedo gets disappointed with trucks speed limit

Straight from Santa Helena (GO) It was only in the day before the start of the race that André Azevedo knew the speed limit for the trucks, what let him a little disappointed, because in 2008 there was no such limit.

“The organization started limiting the trucks final speed again, and now it is 150 km/h. This generates more work to Maykel (Justo, navigator), that is controlling such speed, especially in this place that has so many straight roads, said Azevedo, that in 2008 reached impressive 167 km/h in his 10-ton Mercedes truck.

Another problem faced by the pilot, that finished third in general classification, were the slow drivers. “It was a dusty stage, and we ate lots of dust to pass the slower people, since they won’t give way. But when we say in the radio that we are Petrobrás truck, than they get more attentive, because they know we are a large truck”, said the pilot. “There were so many contour lines, and we have to be careful, because we can’t jump them all. In this first day we are using a new gear-box, that we are experimenting in order to accelerate more”, he adds.
