Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz had a huge fight for the title in cars category of Sertões International Rally, winning the 9th special. With 1h55min54, they took the category leadership, but the advantage over Nasser Al-Attiyah and Timo Gottschalk is 3min59. The Qatari pilot made the second best time of the day, with a total of 1h59min57.

The dispute between the two Volkswagen pilots was huge today. Sainz started ahead, and was driving aggressively, slipping on curves, accelerating over bumps and flying high, until he had a flat tire at Km 74.8. The pit stop was very fast, but then they had to catch up, since Nasser passed him at that moment.

The Spanish pilot stepped hard on the gas, and reached Al-Attiyah, following him 50 meters behind. And only to make things more complicated, Nasser got lost on the way, and Sainz went after him, following him also when taking back the right way, a few moments later. From then on, they raced to recover the leadership.

The third Touareg, Maurício Neves and Eduardo Bampi’s, finished with the third time 2h03min12.

Reinaldo Varela/ Marcos Macedo were the fourth car to arrive, with 2h05min08, followed by João Antonio Franciosi/ Rafael Capoani, with 2h06min22.

Felipe Bibas and Emerson Cavassin made the 6th time this Thursday. They finished in 2h15min35.
