Hoje o dia foi muito bom. Eu estou bem acostumado com a areia porque eu já venci quatro vezes o enduro Le Touquet. O Six Days no Brasil está muito bom. Temos uma boa organização e um belo visual, com muitas montanhas e areia, como no Rally Paris-Dakar.
Today the day was very good. Im well used to sand because I won the Le Touquet Enduro four times. The Six Days in Brazil is very good. We have a good organization and beautiful sights with a lot of mountains and sand, as in the Paris Dakar Rally.

Estará mentindo quem disser que esse Six Days é difícil. Está mamão com açúcar. A partir de agora estarei preocupado em administrar a corrida e terminar a prova. Se eu conseguir apenas uma medalha de latão eu já estarei satisfeito.
If anybody says this enduro is hard, he´ll be lying. It is a cinch. Starting now I´ll be worried in administering and finishing the race. If I get a brass medal I´ll be satisfied.

A prova segue muito boa. Eu não estou sendo muito rápido, mas me defendo. A Itália está bem perto da Finlândia e isto é o mais importante. O percurso é belo e é bem diferente da Europa porque lá não temos tanta areia. O calor humano das pessoas do Brasil é muito importante. E viva o Brasil!.
The race segues very good. Im not being too fast but I manage. Italy is very close to Finland and that is the most important. The course is beautiful and very different from Europe because there we dont have as much sand. Human warmth in Brazil is very important. Hail Brazil!

Hoje o dia não foi muito bom para mim porque eu caí várias vezes e perdi tempo. Mas faz parte… Pilotar na areia é bem difícil. O Six Days no Brasil é bem diferente. O tempo aqui é quente e tem mulheres bonitas e legais por aqui.
Today, the day was not very good for me, because I fell several times and I lost time. But thats part of it Ride in sand is very difficult. The Six Days in Brazil is different. The weather here is warm and there are nice beautiful girls around.

Nos primeiros dias do Six Days eu precisei me adaptar com a moto porque no Campeonato Mundial de Enduro eu usava uma moto 450 4 Tempos e aqui no Brasil estou correndo com uma 250 4T. Hoje eu consegui sentir a real potência da moto 250 e consegui aproveitar melhor a moto. Com isso venci a categoria 250 4 Tempos hoje.
During the first days in the Six Days, I had to adapt myself to the bike because in the world enduro championship I had a 450 cc.4 strokes bike and here in Brazil, I race a 250 cc. 4 strokes. Today I was able to really feel the power of the 250 bike and was able to better use it. Therefore I won the category 25) 4 strokes today.

Caí na última curva da última etapa especial e bati com a cabeça na areia. Até então eu estava em segundo na categoria 250 4 Tempos.
I fell at the last turn of the last special test and hit my head on the sand. Up to that time I was in second in category 250 4 strokes.

A prova está muito boa e hoje eu consegui vencer a categoria 125. Mas o calor está muito forte. Em Portugal não faz tanto calor como aqui, mas está tudo bem comigo.
The race is very good and today I was able to win the 125 category. But the heat is too strong. In Portugal it never is as much warm as here, but everything is all right with me.

Apesar das especiais estarem bem castigadas, as de hoje foram as mais fáceis. O calor está exigindo muito do preparo físico. As paisagens de hoje foram fantásticas. Nós andamos na areia com o mar ao fundo. Foi maravilhoso!
Notwithstanding the special tests being very hard, todays were the most easy. The heat is taking a lot on physical fitness. Sights today were fantastic. We rode on sand with the sea as a backdrop. It was wonderful.

A prova está muito boa. Ontem estava difícil, mas hoje foi mais calmo. Quem chegou até aqui deve conseguir terminar o Six Days 2003.
The race is very good. Yesterday it was difficult, but today it was easier. Whoever go to this point shall finish the Six Days.

O trecho de ontem foi mais divertido e hoje, por algum motivo, minha moto não andou bem até metade da prova. Eu tive que mudar a carburação, que estava boa há três dias. Depois fui bem na Segunda metade da prova, mas infelizmente a primeira parte foi fatal. Amanhã tentarei fazer um dia melhor e recuperar o tempo perdido.
Yesterday it was more fun and today, somehow, my bike was no good until the first half of the race. I had to change carburetor settings, which were good for the last three days. Then, I raced well in the secong part, but my first half was fatal. Tomorrow Ill try to have a better day and to recuperate lost time.

Está tudo bem até agora não fossem os problemas com a minha moto. Ontem quebrou a ponteira do escapamento e hoje ela resolveu apagar e não pegar mais. Fiquei três minutos tentando faze-la pegar.
Everything is all right up to now, were it not for problems with my bike. Yesterday I broke my silencer and today the engine died and not restart. I lost three minutes at it.

O Six Days foi a melhor coisa que aconteceu para todo o estado do Ceará: trouxe dinheiro para os hotéis, comércio e prestadores de serviços, como locadoras de automóveis. Sem contar que está divulgando o enduro. Estou correndo de Honda Tornado 250cc. É uma moto muito boa que agüenta o rojão e é só saber dosar. Esse vai ser o Six Days mais bonito da história.
This Six Days was the best thing that ever happened for the whole of Ceará state: it brought money to hotels, commerce and servive renders, such as car rental agencies. Without counting that it is divulging enduro. I race a Honda Tornado 250 cc. It is a very good bike that stands the bad treatment. All it takes is to endure. This is going to be the most beautiful Six Days in history.

O minha maior dificuldade em correr o Six Days no Brasil é o forte calor. Chego a beber de 7 a 8 litros de água por dia. Para ter uma idéia, na minha cidade, que fica a 40 quilômetros de Helsinki, ao sul da Finlândia, no inverno faz 20 graus abaixo de zero. Essa é a minha quinta participação em um Six Days (99, 2000, 2001, 2002 e 2003). Em 2000 levei um grande tombo no primeiro dia e tive que abandonar a competição. A moto ficou toda destruída, mas não aconteceu nada comigo.
My biggest difficulty in racing the Six Days in Brazil, is the strong heat. I drink up to 7 or 8 liters of water a day. To give you an idea, at home, located 40 km from Helsinki, in the south of Finland, in the winter temperature falls to 20 degrees bellow zero. This is my fifth participation in a Six Days(99,2000,2001,2002 and 2003). In the year 2000, I fell in the very first day and had to abandon the competition. The bike was destroyed, but nothing happened to me.

Esta é a minha quinta participação num Six Days. Já estive na Espanha, Austrália, Itália, República Checa e agora no Brasil. Com certeza a Itália e o Brasil têm as paisagens mais bonitas da competição.
This is my fifth participation in a Six Days. Ive already been in Spain, Australia, Italy, The Czech Republic and now in Brazil. For sure Italy and Brazil, have the most beautiful sights of the competition.

Tirando os problemas, o resto está bem, brincou o capitão da seleção brasileira no Six Days. Primeiro foi a saída dos dois pilotos da categoria Troféu Mundial (Nielsen Bueno e Sthenio Silva). Depois foi a penalização do Jorge Balbi ontem, que perdeu muito tempo para consertar a moto. E por último o forte calor, que está acabando comigo. Na minha casa, no estado de Minas Gerais, a 1800 metros de altitude, hoje está fazendo 14 graus. Aqui no Ceará os termômetros estão marcando mais de 30 graus.
Not counting the problems, the rest is well kidded the captain of the Brazilian team in the Six Days. First we lost two riders from the World Trophy category( Nielsen Bueno and Sthenio Silva). Then we had brazilian Jorge Balbis penalty yesterday, that lost too long to fix his bike. And lastly the strong heat that is finishing me off. At home in the Minas Gerais state, at an altitude of 1800 meters, today temperature is 14 degrees. Here in Ceará, thermometers are registering more than 30 degrees.
