KTM counts on the talent of Cyril Despres and the characteristics of the Sertões International Rally to test the changes made on the motorbike. The French rider says that this is the idea of the mark, with which he will try to repeat the victory in 2006 in Brazil.

The winner of Dakar in 2005, 2007 and 2010 came in second place in the race, won by Marc Coma, also of KTM, present winner of Sertões International Rally.

“It is a rally that KTM wants to participate in with the objective of preparing for the future, test the latest things we have done on the motorbike”, he says. “It will be a good way to see how everything is, it will be a good rally. It is three years since I had come to the Sertões International Rally. I am going to enjoy myself, try and do my best to finish ahead.”

Despres did not have a good prologue this Tuesday morning and will be 20th to start towards Pirenópolis this Wednesday. “I made a small mistake, going straight on a curve, so I didn’t manage a good time”, he said.

The Frenchman arrived late yesterday and didn’t manage to go to the initial talk of the race organization. However, he expects a difficult day tomorrow: “I don’t know much, I only know that it will be a relatively short stage, of 83 kilometers. As I arrived late yesterday, I could not attend the briefing, but they told me it will be a very technical day”.

In spite of not classifying for the Super Prime tonight, he will try to go to the arena tonight to get to know the “fast riders” of the Sertões International Rally and mentioned his rival José Helio, who will not participate in this year’s edition of the race.
