Excitement was present in trucks category on the 17th edition of Sertões International Rally. This Friday, in Natal, trio Edu Piano, Sólon Mendes and Davi Fonseca recovered in the last competition day, and conquered their fourth title of the main Brazilian off-road competition.

Despite having won nine stages, the title was only defined in the final meters. And the reason for that is that Edu had been keeping a small advantage over Amable Barrasa, but in the seventh special, he had problems, finished third, more than one hour behind Barrasa.

With that advantage in the stage that was won by Guido Salvini, Amable took the lead, and started the 10th special with only 1min11 advantage.

The race ended with Edu Piano’s ninth victory, and he opened 4min28 ahead. Like in 2008, Piano’s battle was against Barrasa, who had Guilherme Petrine and Raphael Bettoni as teammates.

This was the second title in a row for the trio in trucks category. With this prize, Edu Piano became four times champion, three in trucks, and one in cars.

Having a career full of conquers, Edu has participated in Sertões for the 13th time. Since 1996, when cars category was opened, the pilot is present and is always present among the first competitors. In total, he participated ten times in cars, and three in trucks categories.
