Get to know a bit about today’s host city: Sobral (CE)

The city made its debut in the rally in 2010. Sobral is located in the northeast of Ceará, 235 kilometers from Fortaleza between the waters of the Acaraú River and the Meruoca mountain range. The local economy is based on agriculture and cattle, sheep, goat, pig and chicken raising.

Tourism is another strong source of income in the region. Its natural beauties, the historical center and museums attract visitors. The soft landscape, has its summit on the Serra Meruca (the main elevations have altitudes between 200 and 700 meters above sea level). The open caatinga shrub is predominant; however there are some tropical rainforest areas and forests bordering rivers.

The climate in Sobral is typically tropical, hot and dry, with an average temperature of 30ºC and an altitude of 70 meters.

Curiosities: it is the city that registers the largest amount of earth tremors in Brazil.
