The city of São Francisco is located on the banks of the São Francisco River and has the fourth largest population in the north of the State of Minas Gerais, about 54 thousand inhabitants.
It was founded in 1877 and its main artistic manifestation is handcraft, which is passed on from region to region and has its origin in the Brazilian Indians, maintaining until today its pure form, using materials extracted from nature.
As a Riverside city, it is home to many bars and clubs along the banks. The city is known as having the most beautiful sunset in the São Francisco valley, and for this reason it received homage from the writer, Guimarães Rosa, with the verse: and the lovely city of São Francisco, who the river looks on with so much love.
