Jean Azevedo says he started the rally off on the ‘right foot’

Jean Azevedo received a boost of optimism with the victory in the prologue of the Rally dos Sertões, in an improvised circuit in the Goiânia race track this Tuesday. He counted on the mistakes of the competitors in fast imported cars, like Guilherme Spinelli and Paulo Nobre, to guarantee his lead position and head to the Super Prime together with seven other pilots.

However, Azevedo, whose navigator is Emerson Cavassin, recognized that this initial feat is not very significant, as the rally itself will only start on Wednesday. “This means hardly anything to the end result, but is good to give a boost and get the team motivated. Who knows, this will bring good vibes to the ten days that we have ahead of us, which will be very hard”, says the driver, who has had a victorious career in motorcycling.

Azevedo explained that not all the drivers necessarily want to be the first to start for Pirenópolis: “In the Super Prime, each one has his own strategy; there are some drivers who do not want to start in first. What was necessary was to place among the top eight in order to race at night. It is at night that each one will have a different tactic”.

The duos Cristian Baumgart/Beco Andreotti, Riamburgo Ximenes/Stanger Eler, Reinaldo Varela/Eduardo Bampi, Klever Kolberg/Flavio Marinho, João Antonio Franciosi/Rafael Capoani, Maurício Bortolanza/Gustavo Bortolanza e Marcos Baumgart/Kleber Cincea will also be present in the Super Prime.
