Straight from Caicó (RN) Volkswagen didn’t see it coming: two of their own pilots shocked during the special. Lucky Carlos Sainz/ Lucas Cruz, who had nothing to do with the mess, and opened a large advantage, getting close to Sertões International Rally title.

“With 20 kilometers, to the finish, I turned right, and was wrong. Eduardo Bampi saw that we were wrong and, before we managed to go back, Nasser came fast in the opposite direction, hit us, and destroyed the front of both cars”, explains Mauricio Neves, who finished the race in third place.

According to Mauricio, they were doing better partials than Sainz and Nasser, and had the possibility to win for the first time in Sertões. “This would be a special for us to win with large advantage, and it would be important to me. But accidents do happen. I’m glad he was the one who hit me, and not the other way around (laugh)”, says the Brazilian pilot.

Team – “I’m a little scared, I don’t see team spirit in them. They enter the special and they digladiate”, comented Mauricio. “I think the rally has defined in favor of Carlos today. It’s an 80 Km special tomorrow, and there’s not much to do”, he finishes.
