Marcelo Medeiros, the quad who won the first stage of the 2011 Sertões International Rally, believes he was Lucky in this Wednesdays Special of 83 kilometers between Goiânia and Pirenópolis (GO), but he also believes that what made the difference were the higher speed zones.
He completed the stretch with a time of 1h37min19s. Marcos Oliveira, who came in second, did it in 1h40min39s.
While he studies the mornings route, Medeiros spoke to our news. I started in third and was lucky that the first two made mistakes. I hope to continu in this position to the end, he said.
The first 50 kilometers were very hilly, with ups and downs, and this was not very good for my quad. But I kept calm and the rally began to gather speed. I think I was better than the others in this.
However, the rider expects to face difficulties because he will be the first to start heading towards Porangatu this Thursday: I will suffer starting ahead, but I hope to be as lucky as I was today. The motorbikes [that start ahead of the quads] leave little trail, and you cannot see them.
