With his good ol formula, this Friday Edu Piano won his fourth Sertões International Rally title, the third one in trucks category. This way, he turned to be the biggest champion of the heavy weights of the rally history, along with André Azevedo. Edu still has another cup in cars.
Originally a Jeeper, Edu has never fought so much to win a Sertões cup as this year. Despite having won nine out of ten specials in 2009 edition, he only confirmed his conquer in the last stage today at Natal. And all due to the problems he had in the seventh day, when he placed more than an hour behind Amable Barrasa.
If it werent because of that day, Sertões would have watched another stroll from the light and swift truck pilot, who got his surname due to the familys piano shop. But Edu doesnt step near a piano in a long time, since hes been dedicating his time to off-road adventures.
Edu discovered the charm of the off-road life in 1990 with his blue Willys at Serra da Cantareira, São Paulo. Dedicated Jeeper, he is a known guy in Sertões. The first time I drove a Suzuki. In1999 I competed in a JPX pickup. From 2000 on, I drove an L200, until I got to Chevrolet, in 2003, remembers the pilot, who started to be a champion at the Mitsubishi Cup.
