The second day of Sertões International Rally was heavy on the pilots. Bikes left Santa Helena de Goiás at 8 a.m., Thursday 25th, and found a slow course, full of obstacles, lots of dust, and hi-speed stretches, too. Zé Hélio rode his bike number 100 in the fastest time to Cidade de Goiás, and rode the 334 Km in 4h45min27.

The city was having a party to celebrate the rally, and even the public school students were dismissed from class to watch the event. Visibly tired, the pilot didn’t want to talk about the special

Tiago Fantozzi was second to cross the finish line, timing 4h54min34, and have been in first place for some time, but a problem with an animal delayed him. “With 50 to go, in farmland, a chicken jumped in front of my bike and got entangled with my wheel. In trying not to fall, I put my foot on the ground and twisted my ankle. I’m in a lot of pain, but I kept going, and at that moment, Zé took the leadership”, he explained. Even though, the pilot liked the special and praised the route. “It was a fast special, with some slow sections, lots of stones, and lots of navigation. It was just like Sertões”.

Pedro Bianchi was third to get to Cidade de Goiás, and completed the course in 5h01min26. The Portuguese pilot said that he enjoyed the course, and that kept calmer than the first two pilots, and didn’t push too hard.

“It was a difficult special, very physically demanding. We faced traffic on the course, animals, cars, bikes, closed gates, but that’s all part of the rally, and we’re here for that. Zé Hélio and Tiago Fantozzi rode very fast today, and I preferred to ride more calmly. There is still a lot ahead, and I want to get to Natal (RN)”, said the Portuguese pilot.

He says this was one of the most difficult specials ever in Sertões International Rally. “If this is not the most difficult section, than we are still going to have hard times!”

Carlos Ambrósio had the fourth time 5h15min43, followed closely by Jacek Czachor, that finished the section in 5h18min02.

Best Times With the second best time of the day, Denísio do Nascimento completed the course in 4h53min44, leaving Fantozzi with the third time, less than a minute later.

Sérgio Klaumann got the fourth place of the second day, with 4h55min35, followed by Juca Bala, 4h59min31, and Pedro Bianchi. Carlos Ambrósio placed seventh, followed by Jacek, and by Dimas Mattos, that completed the course in 5h23min15. Those are extra-official timings.
