Straight from Natal, RN This year’s race isn’t quite over, and the Sertões International Rally organization is already thinking about changes for next year’s race, to be held in august 2010. The main change, and most polemic one, too, is the restructuring of trucks category, for there are small vehicles in the category, making an unequal dispute.

“We are trying to find a fair equation among small and large trucks. Maybe we could bring up the weigh of small trucks, in order to bring down the average speed, but I think the trend is that forces will become equal”, said Marcos Moraes, Dunas Race CEO, race organizer. “We will se what we can do within the next months in order to make a good new rule”, he adds.

For cars, the concern is with pollutant emissions and hazards to the environment. “Mainly in diesel vehicles, where we are going to restrict the smoke issue”, said Moraes.

Bikes category should not change significantly, even though Rally Dakar has restricted the engines to 450cc. “We understand that our market is Brazil, and we still have many pilots with larger engines and we don’t see, at this moment, a demand for restriction of cylinders for next year”, finishes Moraes.
