The drivers of the fast imported cars in the category T1 FIA made a mistake and got left behind in the Prologue of the Rally dos Sertões, this Tuesday in Goiânia (GO). Guilherme Spinelli/ Youssef Haddad and Paulo Nobre/Filipe Palmeiro will not go to the Super Prime tonight because they did not place among the eight best.

In an improvised circuit in the city’s race track, Spinelli, aboard his Mitsubishi Lancer Racing, spun off on a curve on the mud and came in ninth place, position in which he will start on Wednesday when the rally goes to Pirenópolis.

“I made a mistake on the hairpin curve, I exaggerated a bit to the right on braking, I passed it a bit and lost a lot of time. It was reasonable”, said the three times race champion.

Paulo Nobre, Palmeirinha, faced even more problems: he spun around and had difficulties making his BMW X3 catch again. “The biggest problem was spinning on the last curve on the race track”, he stated. “It couldn’t of happened, but it did, it’s part of the game. Those seconds that we took to make the car catch again cost us many positions for tomorrow.”

Palmeirinha is worried about the fact that he will have to overtake already on the first day: “It is always a complicating factor, because this car is stronger than many here in the rally. We will overtake from five to ten cars in the Special. It gets in the way of the race of who is being overtaken. When this happens on the second to the last day of the rally, people will even help you out. On the first day, it is quite understandable that one wants to make the best time”.

The duo Jean Azevedo/Emerson Cavassin made the best time among the cars. The Super Prime will begin at 19:30, but at the arena mounted outside the Flamboyant Shopping Center.
