There are still two days left for the Marathon stage in which the vehicles do not undergo maintenance after the Special however, the truck driver, Guido Salvini is already worried about the difficulties to be faced that day. The driver stated that he is sparing his vehicle, even so, he managed to make the best time in his class, 2h48min01.
We won, but it was not only on our own merit. Edu [Piano, a driver of one of the trucks], stopped to help a car from his team. He was driving right ahead of us, admitted Guido.
According to him, on these first days of the test it is necessary to hold back on the rhythm, in order not to run risks when the truck cannot receive maintenance. We accelerate when there is a straight stretch, and on the curves, erosions, and ditches I slow down. We want to arrive calmly tomorrow also. Its a preventive job for the marathon [stage], the driver explains.
Shorter stage The trucks did a shorter special this Friday in relation to the other classes. The total for the giants was 216,81 kilometers, in contrast to 285 for the other vehicles.
The day was favorable to the heavy trucks, aside from the winner Guido, who counts on Flavio Bisi and Fernando Ventania as navigators, the trio André Azevedo/Sidinei Broering/Ronaldo Pinto had a good day and finished with the second best time. Both competed with a Mercedes Artego truck. Rafael Conde and José Papacena came in third place with a Ford F-4000.
Rafaels father, Amable Barrasa had a breakdown on kilometer 124 of the stage and was the only truck not to complete the course. Edu Piano and Solon Mendes came in fourth place.
