Marcelo Medeiros attributed his second consecutive victory among the quads in the Sertões International Rally, to the high speeds in the fourth special. The rider, who prefers the faster stages, completed the 142 timed kilometers between Gurupi and Porto Nacional (TO) in 1h43min55.
It was the special that was most favorable to me, it was high speed, and my quad is very good in stages such as this one, he said. I made no navigation mistakes and Thank God I managed another victory.
Meanwhile, the leader of the general classification, Tom Rosa, decided to be more conservative, because in the marathon stage of Sunday to Monday, there will be no technical assistance for the vehicles.
Tom came in fifth place this Saturday the last among the quads that completed the stage. We planned the day to do it calmly, in order not to ruin the machine. The Head of my team asked me to ride slowly, because tomorrow there is the Jalapão and afterwards the way out of it. The secret to keep the lead is to be careful, to keep ones head, and not to think that we have to win every day, he stated.
This Sunday, the competitors will go from Porto Nacional (TO) to Lizarda (TO) on the first leg of the marathon stage that ends on Monday, with the Special between Lizarda and Balsas (MMA).
