In spite of having completed the sixth stage of the Sertões International Rally 2011 without a windshield, the trio Guido Salvini/Flavio Bisi/Fernando Chwaigert was Mondays fastest in the category. They were 217 kilometers of timed stretch, which were completed in 4h42min32s.
The driver said it was something normal that happened: The windshield breaks every two days. We have glasses to use, but with them it is hot as you have no air to circulate air in the eyes. But we are used to it. The Sertoes Rally is just that.
The trio beat even the lighter trucks, in spite of the race being between the heavies. Today we really won. The other day Edu [Piano, from the lights] made a stop to support a car from his team and that is why we won. Todays Special we won because we were faster. We are even taking care of the equipment.
Edu Piano, who shares the truck with Solon Mendes e Davi José de Oliveira Fonseca, faced problems this Monday between Lizarda (TO) to Balsas (MA), but he is not worried. A screw of the exhaust pipe came loose and we stopped to fix it, two or three times. We are already with the strategy of sparing the equipment, he declared.
In yesterday´s stage we opened nearly one hour over the second placed. We are going to administer this. The truck is sound, there is very little things to do to it. Tomorrow, will end the toughest part for us, said Edu, three times champion if the Sertoes Rally.
