The Best Brazilian motorcyclist in the 2011 Rally dos Sertões prologue was exactly the one who was best placed in the rallys previous edition. Felipe Zanol came in second in the improvised mixed circuit at the Goiânia race track, the same position in which he finished the last rally.
In 2010, he was only behind the Spaniard, Marco Coma. This time, the pilot from the Sate of Minas Gerais was only beaten by the Frenchman, David Casteu.
Zanol says he was conservative in the prologue, that classifies the eight best pilots to dispute the Super Prime this Tuesday night.
I tried to have a calmer race, without running unnecessary risks, he said. The important thing really was to be among the top ten to have a good starting position. The most important in the rally is to go calmly every day so that you can manage to get to the end easily.
Three time champion of the Dakar, Cyril Despres, the KTM factory teams pilot, came in only in 18th place this morning. Competitors will start tomorrow in direction to the city of Pirenópolis. It will be a very technical day tomorrow, with lots of stones, and the final part will be very dusty, Zanol predicts.
