The 8th special in Sertões International Rally, between Petrolina (PE) and Juazeiro do Norte (CE), is the beginning of the end of the 17th Sertões International Rally. On bikes, Zé Hélio just needs to finish the race without any problem to be the champion. He has around one hour advantage over the second place, and there are only two specials to go. The chance of some pilot catching up with this advantage is small, but not zero. In 2h20min20, the pilot finished the 197 Km timed section of this Wednesday (1st). Along with every other pilot, they still had to ride another 65 kilometers of initial liaison, 176 kilometers final liaison.
Juca Bala showed his power during the race, and finished the course in 2h23min19, the second best time of the day. Jakub Przygonski came right after him, only 28 seconds behind the experienced Brazilian pilot, in 2h23min47.
Denísio do Nascimento rode less than a minute more than the Polish, finishing the special in 2h24min37. The vice-leader is now almost 60 mintes behind the leader, Zé Hélio.
Fabrício Bianchini got the fifth best time, 2h28min52, leaving Rodolpho Mattheis with the sixth best time: 2h29min26.
Jacek Czachor was one of the first pilots to arrive, but got the 7th time, because he took 2h30min02 to ride the 176 kilometers. Guto Klaumann placed 8th, with 2h30min43.
Nielsem Bueno, that rode a mere second less than Zé Hélio, was 9th today, totaling 2h31min55, and Leo Uratani, 10th, finished in 2h32min17. These are all extra-official results.
